Last week my friend, and muse, Briana announced on twitter that she was getting ‘tatted up’. This came out of nowhere...no previous mention. Just’ ‘I’m getting tatted up’. ‘Holy fuck’ I thought. My stomach started turning. She must be joking to announce that on the spare of the moment.
Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
I txted her just that. Tell me your kidding me or that at least you’ve thought about this long and hard. She has one other tattoo that she got when she was a lot younger. And I think it’s awesome and sexy, even if I do have to photoshop it out occasionally. But another one?
She didn’t answer the txt msg, and all I could think was ‘dammnit, she’s gonna get some random stupid fucking tattoo’ on a whimsy and end up regretting it later. Please please don’t let it be a tramp stamp! My stomach was turning and churning now and I had to call her. Maybe she would listen to ‘The Voice of Reason’.....although I knew there would be little hope if she had already made up her stubborn mind. I had to try though.
She answered, ‘I knew you would call’. LMAO...yes, sometimes she knows me too well. We discussed my concerns, and I asked what the tattoo was of this time. Hoping and wishing she would keep telling me she was just kidding and trying to get a rise out of me (and everyone on twitter) and that she was just at the shop to support a friend.
She’s so beautiful already and I didn’t want her to desecrate that beauty with a spare-of-the-moment decision. If anything, if she was going to get a tattoo I wanted it to be of a well thought out design and placement, and to symbolize something meaningful to her. I didn’t want some random piece of artwork she picked off a wall.
Then in the sweetest voice she said, ‘Don’t worry Sean. It’s a tatt of the logo you designed for me. On my wrist. Now every time I look at it I’ll be reminded of you’
*Drop the phone*
I didn’t know whether to hate her or love her at that moment. I mean, yeah, it was her logo, and she was mostly doing it for herself. But still, nobody has ever said anything like that to me before. Or done anything like that and included me in the thought. What could I say?
‘I approve, Briana.’
Happy Canada Day, Sean
